Privacy policy

Your information stays on your phone

Last updated: 16 October 2026

The short version
  • Pit Stop 30 has no accounts and no servers. Everything you enter is stored on your phone, and we never see it.
  • We don't collect, sell or share your information. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
  • Nothing you write or record is read by AI or sent anywhere to be analysed.
  • Backups are optional and encrypted with a password only you know – including the optional backup to your own Google Drive.
  • You can delete everything at any time in the app: More → Delete all my data.

Who we are

Pit Stop 30 is a self-help app for general wellbeing, made in the UK. For anything about privacy, email [email protected].

Pit Stop 30 is not a medical service, therapy or crisis support, and it doesn't diagnose or treat any condition.

What the app stores – on your phone only

Everything below is saved in the app's own storage on your phone. It is not sent to us, and we have no way to access it.

Some of this is sensitive – it can say a lot about your mood and mental health. That's why it never leaves your phone unless you choose to back it up or share it.

Phone permissions

PermissionWhat it's used for
NotificationsYour daily check-in reminder and a nudge when a letter to future you is ready. Only if you turn them on. Scheduled on your phone – no server is involved.
MicrophoneOnly when you tap to record a voice note. Recordings are saved on your phone.
Fingerprint, face or screen lockTo unlock the app if you turn the lock on. Your phone checks it – the app is only told whether it matched. Your fingerprint never reaches the app.
InternetOnly for the optional Google Drive backup, and to open links (helplines and websites) in your browser.

Lock and PIN

If you set a Pit Stop 30 PIN, the PIN itself is never stored. Only a scrambled version (a salted hash) is kept in your phone's secure storage, so it can't be recovered – by you or by us. It isn't included in backups.

Backups

Backup files. You can make a backup file and save it wherever you choose – for example your phone's files, OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive or email. The file is encrypted (AES-256) with a password you choose. The password is not stored in the file, and without it nobody can read the backup – including us.

Google Drive backup (optional). If you turn this on, you sign in with your Google account and the app saves the same encrypted backup file to your own Google Drive on a schedule you choose. To do this, the app asks Google for two limited permissions:

Your Google account email is shown in the app so you know which account is connected. Your backup password is kept in your phone's secure storage so automatic backups can run; it is never sent anywhere. Google receives only the encrypted file and can't read what's in it. The connection is between your phone and Google directly – there is no Pit Stop 30 server in between.

Pit Stop 30's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information from Google is used only to save and restore your own backups. It is not used for advertising, not shared with anyone, not used to train AI and not read by people.

You can turn Google Drive backup off at any time in the app (More → Backup & restore → Google Drive → Turn off and sign out), and remove the app's access in your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Backups already in your Drive stay there until you delete them.

Things you choose to share

Some features hand things to other apps on your phone, only when you tap them: PDF summaries (for example for your GP), texts to your mates, and calls to helplines. Once shared, they're handled by the app or person you sent them to.

Payments

Subscriptions are handled by Google Play. We don't receive your card details. Google tells the app only whether your subscription is active.

What we don't do

This website

pitstop30.co.uk doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking, and there are no forms to fill in. The site is hosted by IONOS and delivered through Cloudflare, which secures the connection and protects the site from attacks. Like any website, they process technical details such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and keep them safe. We don't use this information to identify you.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your information stays on your phone until you delete it. More → Delete all my data removes everything from the phone, switches off reminders and the lock, and signs out of Google in the app. Uninstalling the app also removes it. Backup files and Google Drive backups are kept wherever you saved them until you delete them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal information, including to access, correct and delete it. Because we don't hold any of your information, you can do all of this yourself in the app. If you have a question or a concern, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Pit Stop 30 is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and explain any important changes in the app's update notes.
